RIAA, crappy CD's, and animal porn...
...okay I don't know where animal porn fits into my little musing...but in the countless rants and mini wars over file sharing lawsuits that the RIAA seems to charge 1000%+ for every song some poor schlub downloads and gets caught for, the simplest answer always seems to be getting overlooked. 'Why curve the road when you can spend millions to move the mountain' is the mindset all the record executives seem to flock to when they seem to forget who they're trying to get to buy the latest Britney Spears opus or the newest lipsynching knockoff they could find. Is it really easier to sic million dollar lawyers on a filesharer who wanted to hear the latest gut-churning crapfest by some boy band that will inevitably grace the $1 bin at the local record store?
Well, as of two minutes ago I came up with an epiphany... Why not make the filesharer buy the songs he downloaded from I-Tunes? Or better yet how bout make the "ruthless nasty pirate" buy the CD? Forced to plunk down greenbacks on the very CD the RIAA was so pissed off about him (or her) downloading. The RIAA gets $20 for a cd that cost them $10 to make and the pirate gets off by plunking down the cash on a 10+ track CD with 9 shitty tracks he didn't want and the one track he downloaded....err...wait...
